Kingdom of the Forge

The Kingdom of the Forge is a kingdom whose whole culture revolves around blacksmithing. People from the Kingdom of the Forge are called Forgieans.

Culture

Childhood

Forgiean children are taught blacksmithing from a young age, no matter if they plan to grow up to be blacksmiths or not.

Cuisine

Forgiean food is typically big and dense with nutrients. It is usually cooked to last a Forgiean a full working day. Some lighter dishes are prepared for certain holidays.

Tourists looking to try Forgiean food are typically given a much smaller portion and a special brew of matcha tea. The matcha tea is brewed specifically to reduce the chance of iron poisoning, as Forgiean food is incredibly iron rich due to the amount of iron just everywhere in the kingdom.

Language

Forgieans typically speak the common language and Forgiean Sign Language. Forgiean Sign Language was originally developed to communicate over the loud sounds of working. It originally only consisted of work related words, but it expanded over time to include most words.

Values

Hard-work and diligence is one of the most valued things in the Kingdom of the Forge. Hence why most of their day is spent working. Weapons and swords made entirely of magic are traditionally seen as lazy. Quitting one’s job to take care of children used to be seen as lazy up until recently. Housework has now become seen as just as hard of work as forging and other professions. Going on maternity or paternity leave temporarily was never traditionally seen as lazy.

This emphasis on hard-work has led to ableism in the Kingdom of the Forge. The ableism has begun to decline with newer generations, but older generations tend to believe that many disabilities are just laziness.

Magic

Forgieans typically don’t use much magic. The most a typical Forgiean may use is some light fire magic to light something.

Gender

Gender is of little importance in the Kingdom of the Forge. Traditionally, Forgieans all dress pretty much the same no matter their gender. Forgiean women look pretty much the same as Forgiean men and lack any sort of difference in roles other than biological roles (ex. cisgender women breastfeeding). What matters more to a Forgiean is how hard one can work.

Surnames in marriage and with children are decided by whichever family is more renowned for their work.

Politics and Stuff

Government

The Kingdom of the Forge functions under a democracy. The government tends to be very hands off. To fit in, the Kingdom of the Forge has a figurehead royal family, as most kingdoms are monarchies.

The Kingdom of the Forge could never function under a monarchy. Last time a monarchy was instated, there was a massive revolution. Most Forgieans don’t like to talk about it due to the excessive violence.

Diplomacy is handled through a group of elected diplomats.

Economy

The most common exports of the Kingdom of the Forge are smithed items, including: weapons, armor, and various tools.
