The Midnight Woods (also referred to as the Cursed Forest) is a mysterious forest that is said to curse anyone who enters.

Tales

Many tales of the Midnight Woods tell of a fountain of youth or treasure. Some say that if one runs quick enough through the woods, they can encounter a goddess who will grant them their greatest wish and let them go free without getting cursed.

The Truth

The Midnight Woods curse anyone who’s in there for too long, “bringing the inside out” as inhabitants say. It puts the core, deepest parts of someone’s identity on the outside. It’s typically “grotesque” or “mutated.” Those cursed get a mark from the woods.

The process of the curse itself only really hurts if someone denies what’s inside.

Those cursed typically stay in the forest to protect themselves from discrimination.
