Gladiolus Edelweiss (previously known as Peony Edelweiss) is a vigilante knight who ran away from his previous life as a princess to be a man.
Personality
Gladiolus is sort of the in-between of Adurere and Frostbite. Gladiolus kind of acts like an average guy except for his royal background. He doesn’t think of himself as particularly heroic or valiant. He really just wants to help people.
He is particularly empathetic towards people stuck in a role that is not fit for them.
Despite his hard work when helping people, he is quite careless when it comes to responsibilities. He is pretty bad at cleaning. He struggles to do certain basic responsibilities as servants used to do all that for him.
Backstory
Gladiolus grew up in the Edelweiss castle. He had his needs attended to and pretty much everything was done for him. He was forced to learn how to be a proper princess and eventual queen. He “absolutely dreaded the idea of becoming queen. All of that responsibility and those big dresses scared [him]”, as he said in his journal.
His whole life changed when he found a suit of armor and claymore hidden in a secret corridor in the castle. He decided to put on the suit of armor, take the claymore, and run away one night. His plan was successful. The whole kingdom searched far and wide for Peony Edelweiss, but they could never find her.
After escaping, Gladiolus was left homeless until he found a rundown house far from the Edelweiss Kingdom. Once he entered, he found out the house was alive. They then developed a symbiotic relationship. Gladiolus would provide food and friendship to the house, and the house would provide housing to Gladiolus.
Relationships
Rosemary Edelweiss
Rosemary and Gladiolus are siblings. They were pretty close back when Gladiolus was a princess, but they were often too busy with their own duties. After Gladiolus ran away, the two became closer. Rosemary had no idea that Gladiolus was her brother until Gladiolus eventually revealed it to her. It was very emotional. Rosemary felt betrayed and hurt, but she learned to accept who Gladiolus is now. Rosemary thinks Gladiolus is brave for being who he is. Gladiolus believes Rosemary will make their home kingdom much better when she becomes queen,
Frostbite
Frostbite and Gladiolus met when Gladiolus had taken up the duty of finding a missing person. Gladiolus stopped right at the signs and knocked on Frostbite's door. He asked where the missing person was and found them in Frostbite's cabin. The two spoke and became friends over their shared interest in helping others.
Gladiolus believes Frostbite isn't a big fan of him. Frostbite actually admires Gladiolus' bravery to be himself, they're just not good at expressing themself.
Adurere
Gladiolus met Adurere when his blade needed repairs. Adurere thought it was interesting how Gladiolus' blade was infused with magic. Adurere partially became friends with Gladiolus to inspect his armor and blade. They are also friends because they just get along. They're mutual friends with Frostbite, and they both love helping people.
Viscera
The two hardly ever interact. Gladiolus sort of just sees him as some weird religious painter.
